SIECUS Calls on Congress to End Funding for Abstinence Education and Increase Funding for Comprehensive Sex Education — In a statement to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on April 23 2008, the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS) asked Congress to end funding for abstinence education and to increase the funding available for comprehensive sex education.( http://www.siecus.org/media/press/press0170.html) This latest statement is the one of many made by SIECUS in favor of replacing abstinence education with comprehensive sex education nationwide, regardless of the values and preferences of particular communities.
